After two rounds of relatively uneventful basketball, we saw some incredible games these past couple of days and maybe spent a few minutes screaming “WHY????” at our TVs. I see you, Heels fans.
As we head into the round of 8, our tournament is starting to get more interesting.
INDIVIDUAL STANDINGS
It was a good day to be named Dan as Colgate’s Dazzlin’ Dan DeVries shot to the top of the rankings with a near-perfect round, followed by Dan “Dan the Luwak Man” Forbush who had an equally great Sweet 16.
UMBC is holding firm though with their trio of Ford, Glasser, and Lord – who moonlight as partners in a personal injury law firm – holding spots 3-5. They’re in a dead heat with 20 other players who are all within 5 points.
The 49 players who had Duke to win it all likely had to be defibrillated at the end of tonight’s game and the 13 who picked UNC are now facing Sophie’s choice with a Duke trip to the Final Four being the key to their ability to advance in the standings. (Side note: If that reference is unfamiliar, get off my lawn ya whippersnapper)
TEAM STANDINGS
UMBC is feeling nice and cozy atop the standings, but Colgate is taking a run at them thanks to the big round by DeVries. Cornell and Hamilton are sneaking up the leaderboard like spring in Central New York… which is only 3 more months away!
Here’s to another round of great basketball and a close finish in ou contest. Can Colgate or one of their Snow Belt counterparts put up a fight? Will another contender emerge?
