An exciting weekend of basketball is in the books and we’re on to the Sweet 16! Duke managed to outlast UCF, Tennessee survived a rally by Iowa and UNC looked like a true no. 1 in its win over Washington. A lot of chalk on this year’s bracket, with the exception of No. 12 Oregon, whose hard work is being rewarded with a matchup against No. 1 Virginia in the next round. Fun times.
INDIVIDUAL STANDINGS
In Luwak Land, much remains the same with UMBC still holding the top three individual spots (aggressive eye roll) led by Tim Ford, Jim Lord and Mike “My Name Doesn’t Rhyme with -ord” Glasser.
Gettysburg’s Mike “The Convection Oven” Baker is threatening them, though, as he’s tied for the 3rd spot overall after posting a PERFECT Round 2. Watch out for this guy, everybody. He is followed by yet another UMBC player, Jitterbugging John Fritz.
Amherst’s Austin “Too Huot to Handle” and Swarthmore’s Ryan “Show Me the Dough-erty” are on a roll, followed by… you guessed it… UMBC’s Charmin’ Chip Rose.
Remember everyone, points double for wins in each round so these standings can shake up in a hurry.
TEAM STANDINGS
UMBC has a firm grasp on first, followed by Route 20 Renegades Colgate and Hamilton who are battling for the rights to Tim O’Keeffe. Not the guy. The trophy. Its name is Tim O’Keeffe.
The rest of the field is crowded but will begin to separate as the tournament presses on and picks start to fall.
Hope everyone is having fun so far.
In the meantime, get to work!
